IC&RC Reciprocal 

Overview of Requirements


Experience-   

6,000 hours full- or part-time work

 
DEGREE/CREDENTIAL CREDIT: 1,000 hours credit for an Associates degree or CADC-M
2,000 hours credit for a Bachelors degree or CADC
4,000 hours credit for a Masters degree or CCS
5,000 hours credit for a Post Masters degree or CAADC or other advanced credential (e.g. NBCC, CRCC, NASW, MAC)

 

 

The maximum degree credit allowed is 5,000 hours toward the experience requirement. *Degree must be in a behavioral health or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

 


  • Experience is defined as full or part-time experience providing direct service to individuals involved in the criminal justice system (experience hours must be obtained within the past 10 years)


Education-

270 contact hours

 
  • Education must be specific or related to the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the tasks within each IC&RC/AODA Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP) performance domain as they related to both adults and juveniles (with a minimum of 10 hours in each of the Performance Domain). The Legal, Ethical, and Professional Responsibility education standard must be a face-to-face training. All Applicants must have completed at least six (6) hours of MCBAP approved professional or treatment ethics training and at least six (6) hours of education in infectious disease awareness.

  • Education is defined as formal classroom education (workshops, seminars, institutes, in-services, and college, university work) or “Home Study” courses (internet, correspondence, teleconference). All education must be documented and from a MCBAP approved source.

 

 

 

 

Supervised Practical Training-

200 hours of direct clinical supervision specific to the CCJP performance domains (with a minimum of 10 hours in each domain)

  • Supervision is defined as the administrative, clinical, and evaluative process of monitoring, assessing and enhancing the criminal justice professional’s performance. The training must take place in a setting were direct services are provided to individuals involved in the criminal justice system (e.g. law enforcement, judicial, corrections, probation/parole, etc.), must occur as part of an eligible work experience and may be completed under more than one supervisor.

Testing-

IC&RC/AODA, Inc. CCJP written examination

 
Applicants are required to pass the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium/ Criminal Justice Professionals (CCJP) written examination as part of their CCJP requirement. There are no prerequisites to take the exam. A passing score is based upon the total score. If you fail the exam, you must retake the entire exam.

 

Code of Ethics – Sign and adhere to the current CCJP Code of Ethical Standards.

 

 

Residency – Must live or work within the State of Michigan fifty-one (51%) percent of the time.

 


Fee-

Submit $150.00 non-refundable two-year certification fee (online application manual included.)


Renewal

  • Forty- (40) hours of approved continuing education training is required for a two- (2) year certification or twenty (20) hours of approved continuing education training is required for a one- (1) year certification, since the beginning of your previous certification period with a minimum of 50% specific to CCJP performance domains.

Renewal Fee-

$135 two (2) two year renewal fee

 $85 one (1) year renewal fee

 

NOTE: there will be a $25 renewal fee for each additional credential for those individuals who hold more than one MCBAP certification.
